Our Team

Dr. Gross earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Alabama in 1977 and his Doctorate in Optometry in 1981. He is licensed in Alabama and holds a membership in the Alabama Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. Dr. Gross has more than 35 years of experience in the optometry field, and he specializes in specialty contact lenses, myopia control, Ortho-K, and scleral lenses.

An Atmore, Alabama native, Dr. Helton earned his associate’s degree in science from Jefferson Davis Community College in 1998 before earning a Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry from the University of Alabama in 2000. He then pursued optometry studies at the University of Alabama, earning his doctorate in 2004. Dr. Helton is licensed in Alabama and is a member of both the Alabama Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. He specializes in medical eye care—glaucoma and dry eyes.

Dr. Calhoun graduated from UAB where she received her doctorate degree in Optometry. She has extensive training in ocular diseases, such as Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration, and dry eyes as well as trained in fitting specialty hard and soft contact lenses. She is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA) and the Alabama Optometric Association (ALOA).

You’re in good hands with Tyanna during the pre-testing portion of your eye exam. She’ll perform your initial vision check, color vision test, and more. Her years of experience as a Technician have trained her to spot early signs and symptoms of disease or other vision problems. She’s also known as our office’s very own Wonder Woman because of her ability to make patients and staff feel comfortable and valued.

Anne is a whiz with anything insurance (and fine print) related. Deductible? Co-pay? Out-of-Pocket cost? She’ll find out faster than Google. Anne is an invaluable asset to our team and will help make sure all of your billing and insurance questions are thoroughly answered.

Maggie has been working in Optometry since 2020. When she's not shopping for all the frames you see in our office, or helping Dr. Gross manage the practice. She spends all her free time with her husband Nathan and their children. 

A dedicated mother of three beautiful daughters and a proud pet lover with four cats and two dogs, Pao is an Executive Virtual Assistant and expert remote Communications Specialist with over five years of experience. She enjoys cooking and spending quality time with her family, whether preparing meals at home or discovering new places to eat.

Rylie comes to us with her Bachelor's degree in Science, specializing in hearing and speech. She is a graduate of the University of South Alabama. 

Mom of 3 grown adults. Grandma of 2. Avid animal lover who loves to spend her free time exploring abandoned/ haunted areas.
