“We have the ability to transform people’s lives. Many patients tell us that because of what we have done to improve their vision and comfort they can better perform at work or play and have never seen this good. We get hugged all the time!” – Stephen M. Gross, O.D.

What We Believe

At Perspective Eye Center, we offer innovative eye care with the belief that vision is more than a number—it’s what allows us to experience the world. Our patients often tell us that their enhanced sight allows them to perform better in their daily lives—whether it’s reading their work computer screen more easily or seeing that curveball on the baseball field—and those transformations are what motivate us to be the source for vision care on the Eastern Shore and throughout Baldwin County surrounding areas. As passionate eye care providers, we strive to provide personalized, top quality vision care for the whole family, exceeding expectations and using out-of-the-box thinking to expand on traditional eye care. Through cutting-edge technology and doctors who truly care, we create vision for a lifetime and help patients see from a new perspective.

Dr. Gross earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Alabama in 1977 and his doctorate in optometry in 1981. He is licensed in the state of Alabama and holds membership in the Alabama Optometric Association and American Optometric Association. “I consider each person who chooses to come to me for their eye care as not only my patient but also my partner,” said Dr. Gross. “I also believe that every patient plays an important role in the successful treatment of vision problems. We work together to address their vision concerns and get them on the road to seeing the world more clearly.”

Dr. Helton

David J. Helton, O.D.

An Atmore, Alabama native, Dr. Helton earned his associate’s degree in science from Jefferson Davis Community College in 1998 before going on to earn a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Alabama in 2000. “Everyone should have the opportunity to experience the beauty of the world through the sense of sight,” said Dr. Helton. “My hope is that more people realize there is help available. With so many treatment options available today, I am committed to helping each patient find the treatment that is best for them.”
